Maia Faulkner, New Zealand, World Centre Manager
Maia is from New Zealand and has been involved in GirlGuiding her entire life. She comes to Pax Lodge from a staff role with GirlGuiding New Zealand and previous roles working in management positions in the events and not-for-profit sports sectors.
She is looking forward to working as the new World Centre Manager to ensure that everyone who has the opportunity to visit Pax Lodge experiences a warm friendly welcome and knows a little more about the work of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
Heather Madill, Canada, Deputy World Centre Manager: Programme
Heather grew up involved with Girl Guides in Calgary, Canada. After finishing university studying tourism and hospitality management, she volunteered at Pax Lodge for three months. She enjoyed the experience so much that in 2000 she jumped at the chance to work for WAGGGS as Office assistant and is now the Programme manager.
Heather loves the combination of old and new that London has to offer and hopes that she can share her knowledge of this exciting city with you.
Susan Newton, UK, Deputy World Centre Manager: Guest Services
Susan is from Nottingham in the UK and has been involved in guiding for what seems like forever. She loves the international aspect of guiding and has acted as a unit leader for brownies, guides, and senior section. Previously, she worked in a private day nursery as the deputy manager and is currently working towards achieving her Early Years Professional Status.
Susan is looking forward to the challenges she will face as the new Deputy World Centre Manager: Guest Services. In addition, she is excited by the prospect meeting, interacting, and working with people from all over the world.
Nefeli Themeli, Greece, Assistant Programme Manager
Nefeli grew up in Athens and is involved with Girl Guides and volunteer work since 1991. Although her bachelor degree is in Computer Science, she always wanted to work with children & young people. That and her wish to experience life in a foreign country make Pax Lodge a perfect opportunity to learn more and offer even more, while cooperating with a Pax Lodge competent team.
Ruth Cubitt, UK, Guest Services Coordinator: Conference
Ruth is from Scarborough, on the North Yorkshire coast in the UK. She has been a member of Girl Guiding UK since she was 6 years old, when she became a rainbow. Ruth loves living at Pax Lodge as it is like living with all your friends.
She has got to know many people from all across the world and she has had many great experiences exploring London.
Rachel Barber, UK, Guest Services Coordinator: Event
Rachel is from Northamptonshire in the UK and has been involved in Guiding since she was 10. Before coming to Pax Lodge Rachel worked as Geography and Art Teacher in between numerous trips travelling and volunteering in various fascinating countries around the world. She is extremely excited about working at Pax Lodge because she can do all of her favourite things here; meet and learn from wonderful people from all over the world; find out more about the brilliant work of WAGGGS and enjoy the diversity of London life in all its splendour.
Garry Poon, Phillipines, Chef
Garry, from the Philippines, is a chef at Pax Lodge working on weekends. After working for 15 years in his home country, he now finds it very nice to have people, with different cultures and nationalities by his side, assisting him in the kitchen.
Warren Ambata Dominguez, Spain, Houskeeper
Warren was born in Spain and has been working at Pax Lodge since September 2007. He likes his job as a housekeeper and is enjoying meeting many people from around the globe. His experiences at Pax lodge have changed him and he is very glad to be here.
Roy Firth, UK, Maintenance Coordinator
Roy, born and bred in Hampstead, describes himself as a "people person" who loves the challenge of solving problems in our building. He enjoys the visitors to Pax Lodge and the staff and, of course, the RV’s (Resident volunteers).
